Growing up in Burundi today often means living at the intersection of multiple worlds.
On one hand, there is a genuine spiritual hunger among young people. Many are sincerely seeking God, and signs of spiritual movement are visible.
On the other hand, there is significant confusion: teachings increasingly detached from Scripture, the blending of cultural traditions with the Gospel, and messages that prioritize material prosperity over faithfulness to Christ.
Urban youth, in particular, navigate a fast-paced environment shaped by social media, global culture, academic pressure, and strong family expectations. In the midst of this complexity, they are searching for identity, direction, and a faith that can withstand the realities of everyday life.
Local churches labor faithfully, yet many lack a clear and intentional strategy to accompany urban youth through these challenges. As a result, young people are often present in churches but insufficiently discipled, guided, or understood.
LF Junior exists because of a clear and pressing need: to form a generation of young people deeply rooted in the Word of God and capable of living out the Gospel faithfully within a complex and rapidly changing urban context.
LF Junior is committed to creating spaces where honest questions are welcomed, where Scripture is not merely studied but embraced as a guiding light for life, and where urban realities are taken seriously without compromising biblical truth.
The ministry seeks to nurture a thoughtful, robust, and living faith—one that prepares young people to become tomorrow’s spiritual leaders within the Church in Burundi.
1. Equipping and Supporting Parents
LF Junior affirms that parents are the primary agents of their children’s spiritual formation. This conviction is firmly grounded in Scripture, particularly in Deuteronomy 6.
Rather than replacing parental responsibility, LF Junior exists to equip parents through training, workshops, and intentional dialogue. These efforts aim to help parents understand the realities their children face, disciple them faithfully through the Word of God, and accompany them wisely through life’s challenges.
2. Strengthening Local Churches
Many youth leaders in local churches are deeply committed but lack adequate training and resources.
LF Junior partners with churches by providing formation in biblical pedagogy, pastoral care, counseling, group leadership, and youth ministry strategy. The ministry also develops doctrinal modules, interactive Bible studies, digital and visual resources, and podcast content to support sustainable and theologically grounded youth discipleship.
Through this collaborative approach, youth discipleship becomes a shared responsibility, strengthening the Church as a whole.
3. Outreach and Engagement with Young People
LF Junior intentionally creates safe and meaningful spaces where young people can ask questions, wrestle with doubt, think critically, and encounter the depth of the Gospel without fear of judgment.
These spaces include:
LF Junior also integrates arts, music, spoken word, and sports into its discipleship approach, affirming that faith is lived not only through instruction but through embodied life, creativity, and culture.
In this vision, talents become pathways for discipleship.
LF Junior envisions:
The ultimate goal is the formation of faithful disciples who will, in time, rise as faithful leaders for the Church in Burundi.
LF Junior is committed to participating actively in the shaping of this generation.
