In August, Selah Hymnody was invited by CLM Gitega to share a time of collective worship, as well as to reflect together on the biblical foundations of worship.

We worked closely with the song and music leaders of CLM, who showed great humility and openness, often giving us space to lead and to teach. It was a rich and mutually edifying time, marked by learning from one another in a spirit of unity.

Below are the main themes addressed during the workshop.

Worship Is for God’s Children

We emphasized that true worship is a spiritual act that flows from a transformed heart and a living relationship with God through the Holy Spirit. This session also revisited the grand biblical story of worship, highlighting key stages:

A Case for Blended Worship

We also reflected on the value of blended worship—bringing together traditional hymns and contemporary songs. This approach helps create a welcoming and inclusive worship environment, allowing for a richer range of emotional and spiritual expression.

Blended worship fosters vitality and engagement while offering healthy variety. It also helps bridge generational gaps, reducing tensions that can arise when a single musical style is imposed.
